Konica Minolta API platform

Helping developers and partners to build applications around imaging, video and cognitive services

NEW FUNCTIONALITIES AT GREAT VALUE

Organisations of all sizes are becoming aware of how new value can be created by making microservices available via Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), which represent contained processes or logic which are rapidly and automatically executed at a predictable cost.

An example is how many courier companies offer their pricing structures and services as a microservice which are connected sales platforms. The courier maintains their data and the selling platforms just hook into services as and when required.

LEVELS OF NEW VALUE

The value of such microservices is at several levels:

  • Seamless end-user experiences
  • Saving development time, no need to develop existing software building blocks
  • Partnership creation without technical complexity
  • Fresh streams of revenue from existing intellectual property
  • Connecting services with complementary processes (such as connecting system integrators with platform developers)
  • Join an entirely new concept of marketplace

FINDING THE API SERVICE FOR YOUR NEEDS

Over the past two decades, APIs and the marketplaces have grown exponentially. While this makes tens of thousands of APIs globally visible, it’s making it harder for end users and developers to find the microservice that meets their needs.

For this reason, Konica Minolta offers an API platform focused on its areas of expertise, imaging and AI. Developers can find the tools and environment they need to build applications and services around:

FOCUS ON IMAGING APPLICATIONS

Imaging includes the application of artificial intelligence to document management and analysis in applications such as document redaction.

Imaging applies also to the rapidly growing world of video analytics, which ranges from examining still photographs to video streams tracking high-speed production lines.

As the use-cases are variable, artificial intelligence models can be trained for specific processes, industries and environments.

CONNECTING DEVELOPERS AND SAVVY END USERS

By focusing on the world of imaging and cognitive services, Konica Minolta API Platform has been designed to give technical developers easy access to Konica Minolta microservices assets which are available to market as APIs. Developers and end users with sufficient coding skills are invited to test our APIs and to learn more about our portfolio continously growing, specialising in document and image analytics.

FEATURED MICROSERVICES

The resulting data streams from documents, photographs or video can be passed through microservices to detect errors, non-compliances, defects and so on. Here you find a first list of features: you can see all subsequent updates by navigating the Pilot Portal.

Video Solution Services - Occupation Health and Safety:
  • Hardhat:
checks that everyone in the input image is wearing an hardhat, all people violating the check will be red flagged.
  • Mask:
checks that everyone in the input image is wearing a mask, all people violating the check will be red flagged.
  • People Counter:
checks that inside the image given as input there are no more people than the maximum number allowed, all people violating the check will be red flagged.
  • Social Distancing:
checks that everyone in the image given as input maintains the minimum distance, all people violating the check will be red flagged.
  • Safety Vest:
checks that everyone in the input image is wearing a safety vest, all people violating the check will be red flagged.
  • Man Down Detection:
checks if in the image are present sick people on the ground.
Manufacturing Image Recognition:
  • Text Recognition:
recognises a text into an image (i.e.: on a truck or a wall).
  • Bar Code Recognition:
recognises code number in a barcode.
Cognitive Services:
  • Keyword Extraction:
returns the most important words and expressions in a text.
  • Summariser:
accepts a plain text in input and provides as output a distilled version of the input text.
  • Classification:
accepts a file in input and provides as output a list of possible categorisations.
  • Dependencies:
the output structure is a directed graph which contains words as nodes and grammatical relationships as edges.
  • Named Entity Recognition:
the engine recognises named entities in a document using a pre-trained language-dependent model.
  • Content Extraction:
the service extracts from documents their plain-text representation.
  • Metadata Extraction:
the service extracts metadata from documents, including an inference on the main language of document itself.
  • Document Enhancer Async PDF API:
an API to extract content from PDF file originating by a scanner. The API is asynchronous, so you need to retrieve the taskID using POST method and using retrieved taskID in GET method API.
